Installation Questions
Can your lighting fixtures be installed without a professional?
While some fixtures may be installed by experienced individuals, Lambert & Fils always recommends installation by a licensed electrician. Professional installation ensures safety, compliance with local electrical codes, and optimal performance.
Please note that the fixture must be installed strictly according to the installation manual. Any deviation from the installation instructions, use of incompatible wiring, voltage, dimming systems, or controls may void the warranty. Fixtures showing visible damage must not be installed.
What mounting and wiring requirements are needed?
Installation requirements vary depending on the fixture and control system. Detailed technical specifications are provided with each product to guide electricians during installation. The Specification Sheet for each product can be found on the product page under ‘’Downloads’’.
Do your fixtures require specific installation conditions?
Some luminaires may require specific drivers, dimming systems, or mounting conditions. Following the provided technical documentation ensures optimal light performance and longevity.
Technical Questions
What is CCT (Correlated Color Temperature)?
Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) describes the color appearance of white light, measured in Kelvin (K). Lower values (2700K–3000K) produce warm, ambient light that imitate a dimmed incandescent bulb, while higher values (3500K–4000K and above) create a cooler, more neutral or task-oriented light. See our resource page here.
How do I choose the right dimming control?
Every luminaire Specification Sheet includes a dimmer compatibility list (last page), specifying the dimming protocol used and a short list of dimmer models that have been tested and approved by our lab. This document can be found in the downloads section of each product. Any dimmer model or dimming protocol outside of our specifications can work but must be tested in order to validate the performance.
What is a Color Rendering Index (CRI)?
The Color Rendering Index (CRI) measures how accurately a light source reveals colors compared to natural light. A higher CRI (90+) provides more accurate color representation, which is especially important in residential, retail, and hospitality settings. All Lambert et Fils light sources have a high CRI (90+).
What is the difference between hardwire and softwire?
Hardwired fixtures are permanently connected to the building’s electrical branch circuit and are installed by a licensed electrician for a clean, built-in look.
Softwired fixtures include a cord and plug and connect to a standard outlet, offering more flexibility and easier installation without permanent wiring.
Finishes Questions
My marble cube for my Isle fixture looks different from the images on your website. Is this normal?
Yes. Marble is a natural stone, and variations in veining, color, tone and texture are inherent to the material. Each marble cube is unique, and no two pieces are alike.
These natural variations are part of the handcrafted character of the Isle fixtures and are not considered defects. Product images are provided as a visual reference, but the final appearance may vary from piece to piece.
Do you offer custom finishes?
We can offer custom finishes on aluminum components.
Custom aluminum finishes are executed using powder coating and must be specified using the RAL color system. Pricing for custom finishes depends on the selected color and finish availability.
Certain Sandtex finishes may also be available in a glossy version upon request.
Custom finishes are not available for marble or acrylic components, as these materials require highly specialized color development processes.
Additional Questions
Are your fixtures compatible with smart lighting systems?
Many of our luminaires are compatible with smart lighting and building automation systems, depending on the selected control options.
