After the successful first edition of Caffè Populaire, Lambert & Fils and DWA Design Studio’s seven-day ephemeral caffè presented during Milan Design Week in 2019, the duo returned for another edition. This time, it was joined by New York based wallpaper studio SUPERFLOWER, and together the group renewed the experience with Caffè Populaire: an eight-day aperitivo garden.
For Caffè Populaire 2022, set in Alcova’s vacant temple and surrounding wild garden, the project consisted of a series of pavilions immersed in nature that crept over and around architecture abandoned by man. Seeking the subtle balance between the artificial and the natural, Milan’s renowned DWA Design Studio created an installation in which nature framed human conviviality.
Inside the main room of the temple, a central table blooming with wild flowers created a dialogue with the garden outside, while an undulating water sculpture emerged from the flowering table to connect SILO, Lambert & Fils’ new lighting collection, and the floral wall coverings of SUPERFLOWER.
