Maison du Lac

Magog, Québec

This chalet in Quebec’s Eastern Townships won an American Architecture Prize for its interior. One of the only follies in the otherwise restrained, sleek and open-concept living area is a tall, black chandelier hanging over the dining room table. It was inspired by the Beaubien collection but built vertically. Suspended in a double-height volume, the custom light acts as a focal point; it elevates the importance of the eating area and its central role in the chalet occupants’ lives.
